Jennifer Moll is the Director, U.S. Commercial Service East Michigan with the U.S. Department of Commerce. She joined the organization in January, 2001, and works in the Detroit and Pontiac U.S. Export Assistance Center in Michigan. Ms. Moll worked in the Office of Service Industries at Commerce Headquarters in Washington, D.C. before moving back to the Detroit area in the summer of 2005. As part of the Commercial Service, she leads a strong team of trade specialists in Michigan and is an active member of the Global Automotive and Education Teams. In her daily work she helps Michigan companies build export sales and develop their international business activities and manages important local partnerships.
Ms. Moll earned a bachelor’s degree in comparative area studies (BA, 1990) from Duke University, where she was a member of the Varsity Women’s Tennis Team for four years. She also has an MA in International Law/Conflict Management and International Economics from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Moll joined the Office of Service Industries (OSI) at the Department of Commerce in January of 2001 as the higher education specialist, and also represented the Department on services negotiating teams led by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) for a number of our free trade agreements (FTAs). She served on negotiating teams for the U.S.-Australia FTA, the U.S.-Singapore FTA, and regularly represented the United States at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum’s Group on Services (GOS).
Since joining the Commercial Service, Ms. Moll has played a prominent role in organizing major international trade events for the Great Lakes Network, including Trade North America (2009), The 2010 International District Export Council Conference, and DISCOVER GLOBAL MARKETS: Free Trade Agreement Countries (2014).
Ms. Moll received the U.S. Department of Commerce Silver Medal Award in 2004 for her contribution to a Free Trade Agreement that reflects many of the goals sought by U.S. manufacturers, service providers, workers and investors. In 2007, she was awarded the U.S. Department of Commerce Bronze Medal for her exceptional contribution in furthering U.S. exports of higher education services through the unprecedented Liu Xue USA marketing campaign in China. Ms. Moll is also a recipient of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service Director General’s Award for her leadership in organizing the Trade North America conference in 2009.
Ms. Moll speaks French has some knowledge of Spanish. She resides in the Detroit area with her husband and two children. She enjoys travel, music, running and Bikram yoga.
